DESCRIPTION:One of our members is taking us for a tour of her district  – (District 9 – Up and coming Ferencváros). \n\n\n\nThis was once a sleepy area but it is slowly becoming a dynamic cultural scene partly fuelled by international students. A Danube promenade\, museums\, and cosy neighborhood bars are among the main attractions of Ferencváros. While at first glance the 9th may not seem like an obvious tourist destination\, there are more than a few gems to be found. Müpa Budapest (formally known as the Palace of Arts) and the National Theatre\, the Bálna (the “Whale”)\, the Holocaust Museum\, Trafó Arts Centre\, the Groupama Arena and Fradi museum\, the Great Market Hall\, Corvinus University are all to be found in the 9th\, and if you’re a beer fan\, this district is known by many as the craft-beer district!

DESCRIPTION:We’ll Explore! the site of an old quarry where the writer\, Mór Jóka\, bought a disused\, wild\, rocky area in 1853 from the income of his first book. After years of work and botanical study\, the park was born. Of special interest was the rose garden\, which survives today\, and is the home to many rose species. The writer’s house was demolished due to poor upkeep\, but the gardens can still be visited. The Jókai Garden has been a nature conservation area since 1975 and is free to enter. It’s also a wonderful place for observing birds in District XII on Svábhegy. It is accessible by bus 21\, 21A\, and the Cogwheel Railway. \n\n\n\nWe’ll then have a coffee close by at Szamos Szépkilátás Cukrászda.
