We will be visiting the classic Gerbeaud Cukrászda. The coffeehouse has a rich history of over 150 years. During the 19th century, Budapest was home to a thriving coffee house culture, with almost every street having its own café. Gerbeaud set itself apart from the rest with its elegant décor and the wide variety of delicious cakes it offered. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of three traditional cakes, along with coffee or tea and water in an atmosphere surrounded by silk-carpeted walls, crystal chandeliers, and gilded tables, exuding a style that drew people from the highest social echelons of society. The Habsburg royal family and many foreigners, including Sissy, wife of Emperor Franz Joseph and Queen of Hungary, visited this coffee house.
